One Hundred Years of Solitude — one of the most widely celebrated books by author Gabriel García Márquez now has a cinematic adaptation. The cast includes Claudio Cataño as Colonel Aureliano Buendía, Susana Morales as Úrsula Iguarán and Marco González as José Arcadio Buendía. The silver screen adaptation brings to life a magic realism tale set up in an imaginary town called Macondo and narrates the tale of the Buendía family. A clan that started with José Arcadio Buendía and Úrsula Iguarán and was followed by seven generations – their journey, predicaments and experiences showcases Márquez’s splendid craftsmanship. The Netflix adaptation is directed by Laura Mora and Alex García López, and the 1 minute 31 second teaser gives a sneak peek that is enough to keep one hooked for the release.
As we eagerly wait for the release, perhaps it’s time to go back to the book to rehash the memories and relive the Márquez experience.
